It’s All In Your Head

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  Colossians 3:1-2

I’m coming to learn, more so now than ever, the frailty and vulnerability of our minds.  It is a dangerous playground of entertainment to the flesh that grows out of a simple thought.  The power given to these thoughts are undeniably underrated and have the potential to bring mass confusion to the simple minded.  There’s a reason God’s Word encourages us to keep our hearts and minds guarded.

Paul encouraged the Colossians to keep their hearts and minds set on things above.  When we read this passage, and others like it, it serves as a great reminder for us . . . for the moment.  The irony is that we soon forget what this verse really says — especially the next time our mind takes flight and sends us on a journey through evil.  In that journey there is but only one destination — sin.

If we expect to live a life free in Christ which is living the resurrection life that only Jesus can provide, then we must seek continually those things that reflect His life.  Seeking is something that requires action, it is not passive in nature.  Passivity allows the evil one to move in . . . or move back into where he was once evicted.  Guard your hearts!  Guard your minds!

He dwells in your heart, is your life . . . but it all starts in your head!

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Ephesians 6:13
